What to Expect at Vicodin Rehab

Centers

When an individual can no longer control their Vicodin use – and has seen their life tumble out of control as a result – it is time for them to turn to a Vicodin rehab center.

Vicodin rehab centers help individuals overcome their physical and psychological addiction to this opiate painkiller – while learning the skills needed to stay “clean” for the rest of their lives.

What Happens at a Vicodin Rehab Center?

There are three primary components to Vicodin rehab:  detox, counseling and after.

  • Vicodin detox.   Vicodin detoxification is the process in which the individual stop using Hydrocodone and allows the body a chance to cleanse itself of the harmful toxins found in the drug.   Many people will experience strong withdrawal symptoms during detox, but counseling and medical professionals maintain a strong presence to make sure the individual is kept safe and emotionally healthy during this period.
  • Vicodin counseling.   Vicodin addiction counseling is perhaps the most important part of rehabilitation.  Counseling – be it group or individual – is a chance to understand the reasons why the addict turns to Vicodin, and what can be done to change that mode of thinking.  The result, ideally, are life strategies that can help guide the individual through any situation without the use of drugs such as Vicodin.
  • Vicodin aftercare.  When Vicodin addiction treatment ends, it is highly likely that the individual will still face challenges in their everyday life as a result of their addiction.   Aftercare programs such as Narcotics Anonymous, sober living home or even following counseling at the treatment facility all help keep the individual on the path to continued recovery.

Different Vicodin Rehab Center Formats

There are two primary types of Vicodin rehab centers:  residential and outpatient.   Residential Vicodin rehab has the individual moving into the facility for a period of no less than a month, and receiving round-the-clock care from the treatment professionals on staff there.  Outpatient Vicodin rehab allows individuals to return to their homes in the evening after attending to counseling during the day.
